What is Fascrete?

Fascrete is a MALP (Magnesium Alumino Liquid Fasphate) product that provides a strong bond for any concrete repair project — whether it be large or small. It bonds chemically and mechanically to vertical, horizontal, and even overhead concrete. It is highly durable, extremely resistant to the freeze/thaw cycle, and holds up under a lot of force and stress — providing you with a long-lasting concrete crack repair. In fact, because Fascrete attains high early compressive strength, it allows for rapid setting and the repaired surface to be open to traffic in as little as one hour.

When Fascrete is applied to clean and sound concrete, chemical bonding assures coherence while mechanical bonding assures adherence. This gives Fascrete an advantage over the rest, as conventional concrete repair only forms a mechanical bond, which is a temporary fix and a much more time-consuming drying process.

Items You Will Need for Concrete Repair:

  • Quality gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Trowel
  • Wire brush
  • Stucco Sponge
  • Chisel
  • Fascrete

Narrow Cracks

  1. Start off by removing any loose dirt and debris from the crack and surrounding area with a wire brush.
  2. Take your Fascrete and fill the cracks using your trowel.
  3. Still using your trowel, smooth out the Fascrete after application in order to provide you with a complete, level repair.

Wide Cracks

  1. Take a small sledgehammer and chisel in order to undercut the edges of the crack. This helps make the crack wiser at the base than at the surface in order to provide a mechanical method of “keying” the patch for a more permanent and secure repair.
  2. Using your wire brush, clean the area in and around the crack. You will also want to wash out the area with a stream of water.
  3. Mix your Fascrete and trowel it into the crack. Pack it down to remove any air pockets.
  4. Smooth the mixture over with your trowel to match the surrounding area.

Edges of Concrete Steps

  1. Remove any crumbing concrete from the area
  2. Undercut the edges of the damaged area with your small sledgehammer and chisel
  3. Clean out the area well with a wire brush and wash it out with water
  4. Find a straight piece of wood that is the same height as the desired edge. Use this as a form by securing it against the side of the area you are repairing and use a heavy object to hold it in place. This will provide a guide for smoothing the patch.
  5. Mix your Fascrete and trowel the compound into the area you are repairing. Pack it down in order to remove any potential air pockets.
  6. Smooth out the mixture with your trowel while using the top of the wood form as a guide.
  7. Once the patch has set, remove the wood form and smooth the surface to match the surrounding area.

Rebuilding Corners

  1. Be sure to remove any damaged concrete from the area that you are repairing. If needed, take your sledgehammer and small chisel to get rid of crumbling pieces.
  2. Sweep out the area with a wire brush and then wash it with a stream of water.
  3. Use two pieces of wood that are flush with the height of the corner you are repairing. Secure the two pieces together to form a corner and place it against the repair site. This will provide you with a guide for smoothing your project.
  4. Mix your Fascrete and trowel it into the repair area. Be sure to tamp the compound down in order to remove any air pockets.
  5. Smooth the mixture using your trowel with the top of the wood form being your guide.
  6. After the patch is done setting, remove your form and smooth the surface of the patch as you see fit to match the surrounding concrete.
